Catholic Schools Week

The theme for Catholic Schools Week 2015 Catholic Schools: A Call to Serve invited all involved in Catholic education to examine what we understand by service and how we live out the call to serve. We were called to self-reflect and remind all members of the school community of the founding values of Christianity notably that education is never simply about transmitting simple facts. This year, school communities were encouraged to answer the Call to Serve  by reaching out to all those who constitute our community.

“With the experience of a good Catholic education our young people will reach out and serve others, especially the sick and the needy … [it offers] the opportunity of a life lived to the full – now – and, in the world to come, eternal life with God and all the saints”– Bishop McAreavey

On Thursday the 29th Scoil Chaoimhín Naofa celebrated Catholic Schools Week by inviting every child’s grandparents to the school for a service with Father Crotty.  We especially wanted to do this in order to express our thanks for all the wonderful things our grandparents do for us and as a mark of respect for the role they play in our Christian upbringing.

Here are a selection of photos from the day. A full gallery of photos is available under the galleries menu.
