Attendance Policy

Every day counts…

To ensure and maintain a high level of attendance at school by all pupils.

At Scoil Chaoimhín Naofa we believe that regular attendance helps to create a stable learning environment for all pupils, and the school hopes to promote co-operation among pupils, parents/guardians and staff in maintaining a high level of regular attendance throughout the school year.

Aims

  • To raise awareness of the importance of regular school attendance and punctualityat
  • To identify pupils at risk of leaving school early
  • To promote and to foster positive attitudes to learning
  • Encourage full attendance where possible
  • To enhance the learning environment where children can make progress in all aspects of their development
  • To ensure that the system of rules, rewards, and sanctions are implemented in a fair and consistent manner that encourage pupils to attend school
  • To comply with requirements under Education Welfare Act 2000/Guidelines from NEWB

We urge parents to minimise time out of school by timing holidays during school holidays and not during term time. Please remember that the more time your child misses from school, the more difficult it is for them to catch up with their work.  Valuable learning time is lost.  A good understanding of the work can only take place when the pupil is in the classroom.

We value your support in helping us to maintain high standards.
