Parents Association

Parent’s Association

The Parents’ Association is the structure through which parents/guardians in a school can work together for the best possible education for their children. The Parents’ Association works with the principal, staff and the Board of Management to build effective partnership between home and school.

(Guidelines for Parent Associations Sept. 2000)

The parents of students of a recognised school establish and maintain from among their number, a parents association for that school and membership of that association shall be open to all parents of students of that school.

(Education Act 1998 26 (1))

All parents whose children attend the school are members of the Parents’ Association. A committee is elected by the parents to carry out the day to day business of the association.

The committee is as follows for the academic year 2013-2014:

Chairperson:                      Anthony Finn

Vice Chairperson:              Elaine Conroy

Secretary:                         Cara Kennedy

Assistant Secretary:          Derek Cullen

Treasurer:                           Sandra Stakem

Parents Association Activities

The school has an active Parents Association that has been in existence for many years. The committee is composed of parents from all parts of the school catchment area. Parents are welcome to involve themselves in the work of the association. The school hopes that parents will take an active interest in the affairs of the school and can do so by attending meetings and perhaps allowing your name to go forward for election to the committee of the Parents Association of Scoil Chaoimhín Naofa. Among the activities undertaken by the association currently are:

  • Supports swimming lessons promoted by the school.
  • Subsidises the Book Rental Scheme.
  • Organises raffles, parties for Christmas and Halloween and entertainment at school functions.
  • Works with the children in the school garden.
  • Sponsors and helps in the running of the Annual Sports Day.
  • Co-ordinates various fund-raising activities e.g. Annual Collection Voluntary Contribution, Annual Sponsored Walk, Laragh Trail Run, Race Night, Clothing Collections.
